Adventures 101 – “It Begins”

Posted By on February 4, 2010

Well I just got done getting my ticket and now I’m waiting for my plane to pick me up. The Devil is already up to no good, but God is even stronger . My parents and I woke up this morning at 3:30 am and left on our drive at 4:50 am to make it on time to my “11:30pm flight” in San Fransisco. We were about 2 1/2 hours into the drive when I checked my flight time one last time to make sure I didn’t miss anything. I looked at it and saw 11:30, perfect… nothing changed. We are going to get there right on time, 3 hours before my flight. As I started putting my Itinerary away the pm caught my eye. Wait a minute 11:30 pm….. not 11:30 am…that’s a big difference. After we finished a couple of laughs and I finished apologizing to my parents for making them wake up so early we decided to make the best of our last day together in San Fransisco. Little did we know that God was laying out His path before us.

After a fun and restful 10 hours in San Fransisco we headed to the airport at 6:00 pm. I went up to check my two 53 lb. bags praying that he wouldn’t charge me I. Come to find out I didn’t have everything I needed to go into Bolivia. I needed some pictures, a form filled out for my visa and a letter of recommendation from the school. A little misunderstanding with the Bolivian Consulate I hAd talked to about a week ago had me unprepared for the flight ahead of me. I told the lady at the American Airlines desk that I had everything that the Consulate told me I needed but that wasn’t good enough. She wouldn’t give me my ticket. After a quick prayer we ran to the nearest photocopy station and found the form online, printed it, filled it out, and checked it off the list of things to do. Next we needed a passport photo of me for my visa, praise the Lord they do that in the same store. #2 of list checked. Now all I needed was a letter from the school. I made a quick call to Ruan and Tara, I got the message machine. After another prayer my phone started ringing, it was Tara, she had the letter on file and emailed it right to me. After an hour I had the rest of the list done with still 4 hours till my real flight time. Praise the Lord!! If my flight were at 11:30 am instead of 11:30 pm I probably wouldn’t of made it on.

As we finished getting the papers ready for my visa and ticket I got a call back from Ruan, I found out that some more informati0n that the Bolivian Consulate told me was inaccurate. I was told that the best way to get my visa was to get it in Bolivia, only to find out now that it will cost 3 times more there. After a prayer with my Parents we decided that I should get on the flight anyway and trust God to work out the way. I am now having to put my life completely in Gods hands, praying for Him to help me out with this new information. Please continue to keep me in your prayers as I continue this journey into Bolivia.

God is so so GOOD!!!

Josh
