Well I am back. Been a while sense I have posted here. We had a great time in Bolivia. Now that I am back, I took a refresher flight to Modesto to practice talking to the0 tower. I also brought Mike along for some company. We had a smooth flight there flying at 6000 feet. Flew over Stockton airport and got about 6 miles from Modesto. At this point I was going threw all the things I was suppose to say that I have been practicing for the last 2 days. I get there and call in.

ME: “Modesto Tower, this is Cessna 3852 Sierra about 6 miles North East from the runway requesting to land.”

Radio: “Cessna 3852 Sierra……..”

From that point everything I learned and practiced left my head as I stumbled over my words trying to talk pilot to this nice man in the tower. Thankfully I don’t have to get the words right to keep flying the plane, but still I want to be able to talk more comfortably over the radio over something more than uncontrolled airspace. We had a nice landing and then took off to head back to Columbia Airport. It was a beautiful morning and had some fun over the lake near the airport. Had a safe landing and headed home. Thanks for flying with me Mike.

Well I have been working hard here at the construction site. I finished most of the conduit and now they have put me on putting up the drop celling. After spending years crawling around in it at the Hospital in Sonora, I finally get the joys of putting it up. It is actually pretty fun. First you run a wall piece around the whole room. We are using a lazer leveler to make sure it is level. Then we attach hanger wire to hold up the main runs. Then you set up the main runs and connect them with the t-connectors. It took me a while to figure out the names. But Ed made sure that I knew the names….

Ed left last night and we were able to slow the rush a little bit, which gave us all a must needed rest. I can’t believe I will be headed home in only 2 more weeks. It is exciting, but a really weird feeling. I can’t quite explain it. I really want to head home and take a break but at the same time I am really going to miss all the people and things going on around here.

With all this construction work, I got a surprising side job. Richard, the leader of Red ADvenir, found out that I wrote websites. They were in desperate need of a new site and he asked me if I could write one for him. So I have been writing this site after work. It’s kind of refreshing after a hard day of manual labor. Well it has been a busy week and I am going to get ready to go to bed.

Thanks for all of you who take the time to read this.

God Bless!!!

Well I wish I could report a more exciting week. But I am still, and will still be, at the construction site. I do have a cool surprise that I have been working on for Red ADvenr. It should be ready by next week and then I will show you guys. Other than working on the website, I have been working on average of 9-12 hours at the construction site.

I have spent the last week and a half running conduit. I have learned a lot on how the electricity is run. I have just about finished the whole building, pipe wise. Now they are having me put up some drywall and some windows. We will take a break from the usual work that we have been doing and probably work on the ceiling tomorrow.

I will be coming home on the 25′th and can’t wait to see good old Sonora and Columbia again.

Thanks for keeping me in your prayers this whole trip and God bless!!!

Today we finally got some lights on and hopefully tomorrow we should have most of the building done. I will hopefully get some pictures up next week to show how the building looks.

I went last week to pick up my carnet only to have them change the date to the thirtieth. I can’t wait to finally be finished with all the paperwork. Even if I am leaving in about 30 days.

Which brings me to officially saying, I will be home the night of October 25’th. I have had a wonderful experience here but I am definitely ready to come home.

Sorry I’m not writing a lot tonight, I have been spending the last couple days working about 10 to 12 hours every day. I am really tired. Hope everyone is doing well.

God bless!!!

Well it has been a busy month. I got back finally to Santa Cruz after being stuck in Potosi. I was contacting the school and arranging the best way to get down there. As I was waiting for a response I was helping out with the construction for the new TV Station. After a couple days I got a email from Tara. They were letting me know that things were going well and they were glad I was safe and that they would see me when the next plane came down that way. So I checked when the planes were flying and they all had some work on them that needed to be done before they could fly down.

So I kept on helping at the construction site and eventually moved down there. After about a week and a half of being in Santa Cruz I was asked by Marty if I could stay down here and help him out. I was also informed by Tara that because It was taking me so long to get to the school they had a substitute teacher taking my classes. Because there was only about two months left for school they were just going to have him finish the school year. So things were pointing me to stay here.

I sent a email back to Tara and asked for permission to stay and she said that they would miss me but If that’s where I felt God leading I could stay. So that is the sum of why I am still in Santa Cruz. Not for a day, but for the rest of the time.

But things have been going well down here. We are getting a lot of work done getting this building ready to be moved in by the end of this year. And another good thing about me staying here is I got to talk to Jeff and he as formally accepted me into the aviation program when I get enough money saved up. God has been blessing me on this trip. I also am starting to feel ready to head home. Thankfully yesterday I got to buy my ticket, I will be flying in at around 11:30 pm into San Fransisco on the 25th.

This has been a busy month so I am sorry that I haven’t been keeping up my blogs but I will start to regularly keep up every week until I get home. Then I will probably start writing here a little slower.

God bless,

Well it has been a while since I have updated this. I have been on vacation for 3 weeks and had a wonderful time. I left the school hitch hiking and then at the next town I got on a bus and rode for 28 hours. I was able to enjoy the sites along the way. I even got to experience travel on “The Most Dangerous Road in the World.” After that very long trip I arrived in La Paz. I had a blast in La Paz. I was able to relax and enjoy myself. I walked all around the city which is beautifully placed in a canyon in the middle of a mountain range. La Paz stands at an altitude of 11,913 feet above sea level. I got the opportunity to ride a bike down “the most dangerous road” which was an all day ride down a cliff edge that was used as the only road to La Paz for years.

After La Paz I took a bus to Uyuni and spent a day in the salt flats there. That was one of the most surreal places I have been in my life. All you could see was a flat white ground. There were small rocky hills that acted as islands in this sea of white. I will try to get the pictures of that up soon.

Then from Uyuni I arrived in Potosi to see the mines. That was a HUGE mistake. I arrived in the city at the beginning of a rapidly growing strike. I am currently stuck here and they just went independent. Almost everything is closed, they have blocked all the roads out of here at multiple places. I made arrangements for a flight out of here, but now they may be stopping all flights.

Please keep me in your prayers for safety and God’s timing.

I also would like especial prayers for my parents, I think this is effecting them more than me.

Thanks for all your support,

Josh

Well I finally got away from Santa Cruz and flew back to the school in Guayara. I got back and it turned out that There was a family coming so on Friday they moved Salim, Cody, and I out of our house into another. It was a busy day because added on to the move I had to teach 4 classes. And I needed to finish before sundown. Needless to say I have a lot of stuff in a pile next to and on my bed. But even with the move, I am so glad to be back home.

I have almost finished everything I need to do with my pasport. The only thing I need to do now is want for them to call me again and go pick it up. Praise God for letting this finally finish.

I am now getting ready to take a tour around Bolivia, as the students get the mid year break. I am looking foward to check out some of the different citys, I am planning on visiting Guayaramerin, Rurraerabaque, La Paz, Cochabamba, Potasi, and Sucre. This is going to be a small adventure as I tour around the country via Flota (bus) by myself. I will do my best to keep posted on my usual Tuesdays and I will try to put plenty of pictures up.

Thanks for all your support and prayers.

God bless,
