I’m still Alive!!!

Sorry for not posting for a while, I made it to the school in Guayaramerin and have started teaching. God has been blessing me all along the way. First, the pilot who flew us there happened to be an instructor. He let me fly to help with my IFR rating which was a blast!! Then I arrived at the airport and waited all day trying to get a “reasonably” priced taxi to the school, only to find that when we got to the school at 7:30 pm, the price for all taxies was always that high. At the school, Tara gave me a tour of the different buildings. There was the kitchen, a couple of staff houses, three classrooms, a small chapel, and two small buildings for the guys and girls. There is a huge need for more buildings, The school is just finishing a new building for the girls dorm, allowing the guys to move from their cramped quarters to the existing girls dorm. They are needing to build a new guys dorm and some staff housing as well but right now there are just enough funds for food to feed the kids.
I started teaching and have had a total of 14 classes so far. I am learning how hard it is to grade a lot of English papers. Thank you Mrs. Luis for dealing with my sloppy handwriting, I am sorry for all the pain it put you through!! Even with all the tough spots, I really am enjoying teaching, its challenging and a lot of fun. It’s kind of hard with a language barrier but it makes it all the more exciting! Some days here are really long but God is faithful in his promises and continually gives me strength. I am also learning more and more words in Spanish and I can communicate more and more with the kids in there own language which is awesome! Thank you for all your prayers for God to lead me in my teaching.
I have been pretty busy in these last three weeks getting started at the school so I haven’t had a chance to write much. That should change now and I will try my best to keep the site updated every week or two, I have also uploaded a lot of pictures onto picasa so I would recommend you check them out, Thank you all for taking the time to read and see how I’m doing, it means a lot to me.
God bless!!!
Josh
